For anyone that's interested, you can use this to send free TXT messages to your friends, so long as they have a Twitter account and register their mobile.

One of the features of Twitter is sending a 'direct message' to someone. You can set up your account to alert you via mobile with any direct message you receive, so you can get these messages sent to your mobile for free.
Obviously replying to the message from your mobile will cost, but it can be handy if you are at a computer and want to send a quick TXT to someone ;)
