TWITTER BUZZ BUILDING
Buzz is building in the blogosphere about social networking service Twitter.
Let the world (or a smaller invitation-only group of friends) know what you’re doing right now. Make posts (or tweets) to your page by IM, SMS or web and Twitter tells your network what you’re up to via the same channels. Twitter started as a bit of harmless fun but now boasts growing popularity, it seems, once people get their heads around it. You see it’s not instantly apparent to many people why you would want to broadcast your current status. But already millions have chosen to do just that – Twitter has already eclipsed Secondlife and getting close the the Sydney Morning Herald if a quick Alexa comparison is to be believed.
It seems that people find that it answers many different needs. From avoiding the avalanche of “how are you’s?” when first logging on to IM to many more esoteric uses including a home alarm system built using a Twitter-app called Twitterific.
What next?

For anyone that’s interested, you can use this to send free TXT messages to your friends, so long as they have a Twitter account and register their mobile.
One of the features of Twitter is sending a ‘direct message’ to someone. You can set up your account to alert you via mobile with any direct message you receive, so you can get these messages sent to your mobile for free.
Obviously replying to the message from your mobile will cost, but it can be handy if you are at a computer and want to send a quick TXT to someone
